Studies on the Alloplasmatic Brassica Pekinensis (1)


Abstract
In the present experiment attempts were made to obtain Napus-cytoplasmic B. pekinensis for the purpose of attaining disease resistant and compatible individuals by means of successive back-crossing method.
Some of the results obtained are as follows:
1. Alloplasmatic individuals were vigorous in their growth and showed good standing ability.
2. The fertilities of alloplasmatic individuals were 49.5% to 65.4% in BC_5.
3. Some of them exhibited chlorophyll deficiency, and chimera with male sterility.
4. In BC_5 individuals with yielding and standing ability exceeding those of the original varieties were obtained.
